Greetings! I'm Yolanda Lancaster, a passionate and seasoned Registered Dietitian (RD) with four years of professional experience. My educational journey began at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Initially aspiring to be a doctor, with the thought that I could reduce preventable disease in this job field. I transitioned to the University of Houston, where I obtained a degree in human nutrition and foods. This dual educational background equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of health, from the biological foundations to the nuanced aspects of nutrition.
In my four years as a Clinical Dietitian, I've collaborated on impactful projects, including recording a public service announcement alongside the president of a large hospital system. I have worked in intensive care units during at a COVID hospital. This clinical experience deepened my understanding of the crucial role nutrition plays in overall health. My work involves applying evidence-based nutrition interventions to address a variety of health concerns, emphasizing both prevention and treatment.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people on a deeper level when it comes to food. I understand that nutrition is not just about numbers but is intertwined with cultural, social, and personal aspects. My approach involves building meaningful connections with clients, fostering a collaborative journey towards improved health.
I hold a strong belief that one's cultural foods should be celebrated, embraced, and incorporated into a healthy lifestyle. By recognizing the value of diverse diets, we can create sustainable and enjoyable paths to well-being.
